What types of cookies exist?

Please review this section which provides an overview of the types of cookies that can be used in an online environment.

Depending on the cookie owner, they can be classified as:

  • (a) Own cookies: These are those that are sent to the user's computer or device from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself, and from which the web page requested by the user is provided.
  • (b) Third-party cookies: These are those that are sent to the user's computer or device from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

Depending on the duration of the cookie, they can be classified as:

  • (a) Session cookies: They are a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website.
  • (b) Persistent cookies: They are a type of cookie in which the data remains stored on the computer or device and can be accessed and processed for a period of time defined by the cookie owner, a period that can vary from a few minutes to several years.

Depending on the purpose of the cookie, they can be classified as:

  • (a) Analytics cookies: These are cookies that, whether processed by the publisher or by third parties, allow for quantifying the number of users and thus performing statistical analysis of website usage. This involves analyzing user navigation on the website in order to improve the products or services offered.
  • (b) Advertising cookies: These are those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that the publisher may have included on a website, application or platform from which the requested website is provided, based on criteria such as the content edited or the frequency with which the ads are shown.
  • (c) Behavioral advertising cookies: These cookies allow for the most efficient management of advertising spaces that the publisher may have included on a website, application, or platform from which the requested website is provided. Specifically, these cookies store information about user behavior, obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, which allows for the development of a specific profile to display advertising based on that profile. Likewise, when visiting a website or opening an email or message containing an advertisement or promotion, a cookie may be installed in the user's browser. This cookie serves to subsequently display advertising related to past searches and to track advertisements in relation to, for example, the number of views, the location where they appear, the times at which they are viewed, etc.
  • (d) Technical cookies: These are cookies that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform or application and use the different options or services that exist in them, such as controlling traffic, identifying data or the session, accessing restricted sections or content, remembering the items in an order, completing the purchase process, registering for or participating in an event, using security features while browsing, storing content for video or audio playback, or sharing content through social networks.
  • (e) Personalization cookies: These are those that allow the user to access the website, platform or application, with some general characteristics predefined based on a series of criteria in the user's terminal such as the language, the type of browser through which they access the website, the regional configuration from where they access the website, etc.

Modifications are those services that require the legalization of entries on the TITV Cards resulting from a vehicle transformation, whether administrative and/or physical, as well as the generation of a new TITV Card due to a duplicate issuance or for vehicle registration in Spain.

Different types of services:

Tow bar

Tow bars for trailers are towing coupling devices installed on vehicles to tow another trailer-type vehicle. The installation of the device requires its legalization on the TITV Card. When both the device and the location are approved, the documentation to be provided for legalization is less, and it is not necessary to provide a technical project or a certificate of completion.

Change of classification: from mixed-use to passenger car

The change of classification from mixed-use to passenger car consists of changing the use of the vehicle, from use for transporting people and goods to exclusive transport of people, also varying the frequency of periodic inspections. This process depends on the vehicle's own documentation and is related to the registration date.

Change of classification from mixed-use to passenger car as a note: most vehicles registered from 2011 onwards

The change of classification, when the TITV Card indicates category M1 in field J and the vehicle has not undergone any previous reform, will be carried out as an administrative procedure. This means that a conformity report is not required.

Change of classification from mixed-use to passenger car as a reform: vehicles registered before 2011 and after 2011 without category data and/or previous reforms

The change of classification in all other cases (when the vehicle category is not indicated in the documentation or when it is indicated but there is a previous legalized reform on the TITV Card) requires the submission of a conformity report, issued by the vehicle manufacturer or by a technical service for reforms.

Changes of service

Change of service is the change of use for which the vehicle is intended. These include: private use to public use, private use to rental with or without driver, private use to taxi use, etc., as well as reverse changes.

Pre-registration inspections

Pre-registration inspections are inspections carried out on vehicles, in compliance with RD 750/2010 and Section V of the ITV Station Inspection Procedure Manual, for the issuance of a TITV Card to allow registration in Spain.

TITV Card duplicate

This procedure consists of issuing a new TITV Card due to the loss or deterioration of the current TITV Card, or due to a change in provincial registration, etc. In the event that the TITV Card is electronic (printed on ordinary paper including a barcode), the duplicate request must be managed at a Provincial Traffic Headquarters office.

Major modifications

Major modifications are transformations carried out on vehicles after they have been put into circulation that affect the vehicle's regulatory homologation acts. A modification is understood as any change, substitution, action, incorporation, or removal performed on a vehicle that changes the characteristics by which a vehicle can be defined, affecting applicable regulatory acts and the requirements contained in Directives 2002/24/EC, 2003/37/EC, and 2007/46/EC. The processing of modifications is defined by RD 866/2010 and the Modifications Manual published by the Ministry of Industry.

The most common modifications are:

Any other document available for the service, different from the documents described above.

Modification accreditation document, certifying that the vehicle is suitable for the transformation. This document is issued by the vehicle manufacturer or an authorized technical service (laboratory)

The Vehicle Technical Record (TITV Card) is the document that identifies the vehicle and contains the technical data

Set of documents, drafted by a competent technician, aiming to define and assess the characteristics of a product, work, or installation required based on its purpose or destination.

The act by which, in the form of a document, a technician gives conformity for the works and/or installations carried out according to the project

Manufacturer's declaration certifying that the vehicle complies with the corresponding homologation. This document contains information about the vehicle and its technical specifications, homologation number, identification, as well as other manufacturer data.

It is the document that contains the main technical characteristics of the vehicle
